Funeral services for Ferman L. "Jack" Allman, 88, Clarence, were held March 18, 1997 at the Clarence Methodist church, with the Rev. Michael Elmore officiating. Diane Koth was the organist and Coleen Elmore sang. Pallbearers were Matt French, Jeff and Jon Hilleshiem, Jim Cooper, and Roger and Justin Schmitz. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.
Mr. Freeman died March 14 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids, from complications of a stroke.
The son of John and Nora Utter Allman, he was born Aug. 5, 1908 in Wheaton, Mo. He married Edna Bendon Feb. 19, 1937 in Neola.
Mr. Allman was a retired mechanic. He had worked most of his life in the Olin, Clarence and Cedar Rapids areas. He also operated 2 gas stations in Clarence.
He was a member of the Clarence Methodist church. He enjoyed helping those in need, gardening and spending time with his family.
Mr. Allman is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Eva (Charles) McLaud, Cedar Rapids; and Carolyn (Lee) Coopers, Minnetonka, Minn.; 2 sons, Edward (Doris), Cedar Rapids; and R. Wayne (Barbara) Clinton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Dunoven, Seattle, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary; 2 brothers, 3 sisters and a great-grandson.
