Funeral services for Alta J. Ovesen, 85, Wilton, were held March 7, 1997 at Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton, with the Rev. Earl Moermond officiating. James Batcherlor was the organist and Ronald Allmandinger sang. Pallbearers were Edwin Lett, Jim Vastine, Mark McKillip, Philip Urmie, Jerry Davies, Rob Grimm and Chris Timmsen. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mrs. Ovesen died March 4 at Genesis West Medical Center in Davenport.

The daughter of Jake and Sophia Rohe Lett, she was born Sept. 25, 1911 in Cedar county. She married Wilhelm "Bill" Ovesen Dec. 5, 1936 in Davenport. He died in 1983.

Mrs. Ovesen was a member of Zion Lutheran church in Wilton. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening and sewing.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann Giese, Wilton; a son, Eugene Ovesen, Wilton; 4 grandchildren, Richard, Bobby, Jeffery and Kevin Giese; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Gerald Ovesen and 2 sisters, Verta Lett and Hulda Rohe.
