Funeral services for Alice M. Burgess, 75, Stanwood, were held March 10, 1997 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with the Rev. William Harnish officiating. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery.

Mrs. Burgess died March 7 at her home, following a long illness.

The daughter of William and Ida Luettjohann Ruchotzke, she was born Jan. 26, 1922 in Lowden. She married William Burgess Dec. 7, 1940 in Lowden. He died Oct. 5, 1990.

Mrs. Burgess was a member of Kings Daughters.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Denise Leffelman, Dixon, Ill; and Marilyn Burgess, Kansas City, Mo.; 2 sons, Glenn, Anamosa; and Keith, Grapevine, Texas; 3 sisters, Esther Benischek, Oxford Junction; Sophie Thoene, Durant; and Arlene Sterk, Wyoming; 2 brothers, Ralph Ruchotzke, Oxford Junction and Elmer Ruchtozke, Lost Nation; and 4 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
