Funeral services for Wilbur C. Hagge, 75, Durant, were held March 10, 1997 at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, with Father Tom Gehlsen officiating. Wiliam Tinker was the organist and Henry Bentley sang. Pallbearers were Tom Grant, Vernon Wirth, Jim Vastine, Kent Schmidt, Dennis Ormsby and Greg Orr. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Seligman, Bill Denney, Al Kahl and Tim Wenthe. Burial was in the Durant cemetery, with graveside military rites by Durant American Legion Post No. 430.

Mr. Hagge died March 7 at his home in Durant.

The son of William and Minnie Tank Hagge, he was born Sept. 19, 1921 in Durant. He married Dolores Tyler Nov. 30, 1946 in Davenport.

Mr. Hagge was employed as a mechanic for Wilson Chevrolet in Durant, retiring in 1985.

He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and he was a member of Durant American Legion Post No. 430. He was a retired, honorary 25 year member of the Durant volunteer fire department and a 45 year member of the Durant American Legion.

Mr. Hagge enjoyed fishing, camping and playing cards. He was a "jack of all trades" and was able to fix almost anything.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Catherine (Mrs. Dennis) Juchter, Durant; Rhonda (Mrs. Bruce) Skahill, Bettendorf; and Jan (Mrs. Robert) Novinski, Durant; a son, Thomas and wife Sheryl Hagge, Durant; a sister, Nelda Hagge, Davenport; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
