Funeral services for Dale W. Schroeder, 67, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 1997 at St. John's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Rodney Slessor officiating. Arlynn Hasselbusch is the organist and the St. John's adult choir will sing. Pallbearers are Merlin Geadelmann, Robert Schroeder, Jerry Goldsmith, Lavern Schwien, Vern Schroeder and Terry Schneider. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Victory Post No. 286 of Clarence.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 12 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Masonic services at 7 p.m.

Mr. Schroeder died March 9 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City, following a long illness.

The son of William and Wilma Goldsmith Schroeder, he was born Nov. 2, 1929 in Clarence. He married Marilyn J. Kenney May 23, 1954 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence.

Mr. Schroeder farmed in the Clarence area until 1964. He drove a semi for Land O'Lakes until February 1987. He owned a motel in Clarence for 10 years and managed one in Waterloo for 2 years, retiring in 1989.

He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

He was a past Commander of Victory Post No. 286 in Clarence, Past Master of Mt. Hope Lodge of Clarence and a member of Fremont Lodge No. 616 in Stanwood. He was also a past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Clarence.

Mr. Schroeder is survived by his wife; a daughter, Doris and husband Douglas Adamy, Omaha, Neb.; 3 sons, Dennis and wife Donna Schroeder, Cedar Rapids; Daryl and wife Veronica Schroeder, Knoxville; and Darin Schroeder, Clarence; 6 grandchildren, Allison Adamy, Omaha, Neb.; Rachel, Victoria and Anthony Schroeder, Knoxville; and Jessica and Audrianna Schroeder, Wheatland; step-grandsons, Eric and wife Michelle Jeffords; and Brian Jeffords and finacee Tracey Burmeister, Cedar Rapids; step-great-grandson, Jordan Powers, Cedar Rapids; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald; and 2 infant grandsons, Alexander and Kyle Adamy.
