Funeral services for Elmer Louis Stolte, 73, Lowden, were held March 4, 1997 at Trinity Lutheran church in Lowden, with the Rev. John Ranbarger officiating. Marge Wiebel was the organist and Kathy Minnis sang. Pallbearers were Richard Schluter, Gary Hauser, Patrick Kedley, Robert Montz, Mike Stolte, Steve Stolte and Robert Wilkins, Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Roger Fox, Robert Licht, William Stout, Reuben Wenndt and Arlyn Meier. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery.
Mr. Stolte died March 1 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, following a sudden illness.
The son of Paul William and Anna Caroline Meyer Stolte, he was born Dec. 17, 1923 in rural Lowden. He married Clarice Pauline Gray May 25, 1947 in Springdale.
Mr. Stolte was a retired farmer.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, a Lions Club Charter member, and a past board member of the 3/30 Golf and Country Club. He was an avid sportsman.
Mr. Stolte is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Pam Jensen, Waterloo; Julie Wilkins, Bennett; and Deb Ott, Madison, Wis.; 2 sons, Nick Stolte, Fennimore, Wis.; and Paul Stolte, Des Moines; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edwin and Wilbert Stolte, Clarence; and a sister, Till Stolte, Lowden. He was preceded in death by his parents.
