Funeral services for Betty L. Hartley, 69, Wilton, were held Feb. 13, 1997 at the United Methodist church in Wilton, with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Kathy Luethye was the organist and Henry Bentley sang. Pallbearers were Shawn, Chad, Jason and Jeremiah Hartley, and Terry, Dustin, Mike and Wesley Furne. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.
Mrs. Hartley died Feb. 10 at University hospitals in Iowa City.
The daughter of Elnof and Sadie Scharff Kroening, she was born June 8, 1927 in Cedar county. She married Roland "Blimp" Hartley Oct. 16, 1948 in Tipton. He died in 1988.
Mrs. Hartley worked for C.D.S. in Wilton as a data entry operator, retiring in 1987. She previously worked at the Iowa 80 truck stop, Walcott.
She was a member of the Wilton United Methodist church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Wilton. She enjoyed watching soap operas, collecting key chains and her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hartley is survived by her mother in Wilton; 3 daughters, Kathryn (Mrs. Wesley) Furne, Wilton; and Susan Hartley and Lori Hartley, both of Wilton; 2 sons, Richard (Pat) Hartley, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Thomas (Deb) Hartley, Wilton; and 9 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.
