Funeral services for Alice Crew, 83, West Branch, were held June 4 at West Branch United Methodist church with the Rev. Samuel Hahn officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mrs. Crew died June 1 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City after a short illness.

She was born May 27, 1901 in West Branch to Edward and Lillus Randall Gruwell. She married Rollo Crew March 1, 1921 in West Branch.

Mrs. Crew was a member of the West Branch Methodist church, the United Methodist Women and the Juanita Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Madeline (Mrs. Herbert) Espensen, Vernetta (Mrs. Louis) Ruzek and Betty Jean (Mrs. Richard) Slach, all of West Branch; 3 sons, Fred, Clarence and Fritz, all of West Branch; 3 sisters, Arlene (Mrs. Ralph) Littrell and Ada (Mrs. William) Osborne, both of Iowa City and Ava Troupe, Mora, Minn.; a brother, Clifford, Sandstone, Minn.; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son and 2 brothers.
