Griswold American, June 17, 1896, Pg. 4, Col. 2:

Death of Fanny Conklin-Graham.

Fanny Conklin-Graham died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Conklin, in Wright township, Saturday morning. Although it was known that her days on earth were few yet her friends were not prepared for the sad news. Mrs. Graham as Fanny Conklin lived the years of her girlhood in Wright township [Pottawattamie County]. Two years ago last February she became the wife of Wm. Graham and the future seemed to hold nothing but hope and happiness. As a wife there was much to praise and nothing to censure. She was a woman of Noble character and possessed those traits that shine forth in the home circle, that shed happiness around those with whom she was with. For the past year she has been quite a sufferer and how happily these virtues were manifested in the long and weary seige [sic siege] through which she passed. Her life was devoted to family and friends seeking their comfort and happiness rather than her own.

The funeral services were held at the Ashery Methodist church Sunday morning at 10 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. Mercer, of Walnut, in the presence of a large company of friends who deeply sympathized the the sorrowing husband and parents in their affliction, fully realizing that no moment in life is without its attending duty, and when from us we lay our friends away in the grave, we have performed that saddest of all duties left to the living. Interment in the Whipple cemetery [Pottawattamie County].
