G. H. Robertson Dead

George H. Robertson died at his home corner of seventh and Locust streets last evening a few minutes before 6 o'clock. The end had been anticipated for some days and all Tuesday night and all day yesterday it was almost momentarily expected, it being only a question of how long the final breath of life could last. For almost a week now his condition had been such that but little hope for his recovery could be entertained. His sickness has been of several months duration, first taking the form of nervous prostration and culminating, apparently in a total physical collapse.

The deceased was 59 years of age, the last 22 of which have been spent in Cass county, he having come here from New Hampshire in the fall of 1877. His trade was that of a shoe maker and he worked at the bench for a short time after coming. He was deputy auditor for a year or two and afterward he entered the employment of the Cass County Bank, for which institution he worked for nearly twelve years. Early in the '90s he gave up his position there to accept that of manager of the loan and real estate business of J. F. Hubbard, which position he was filling at the time he was taken sick. Mr. Robertson was one of the keenest business men and far seeing financiers of this county and for the past number of years has been intimately connected in financial and money circles. In his position he made many friends and acquaintances throughout this and surrounding counties and he leaves a large circle of warm friends. He was a most kind and genial gentleman to meet with in all his relations, and was a most interesting man to talk to, being a man of wide reading on many subjects and of broad general culture. The funeral services will take place next Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the late residence and the remains will be interred in the Atlantic Cemetery.
