Atlantic Semi-Weekly Telegraph, June 26, 1900, Pg. 4, Col. 3:

Another man in the prime youth passed away from the toils of this life Saturday night. Wm Scarf who has lingered at the point of death for many days with Bright's disease, died at the home southeast of town. Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. the Masonic order having charge of the service. Their many friends sympathize with the bereaved mother, brother and other relatives.
