Lewis Standard, June 7, 1900, Pg. 1, Col 4:
Perry Disbrow was born in Jefferson, N. Y. July 13, 1814. In 1825 his father sold his farm and moved to Lorain county, Ohio, where he bought land and settled in the town of LaGrange, then a heavily timbered country and the western frontier of civilization. Perry worked with his father clearing and improving the home farm, until he was 22 years old when united in marriage with Clarrissa Langdon. He bought land in the neighborhood which he improved and lived upon till the spring of 1857, when he sold his farm and moved his family to Lewis, Iowa. He entered 160 acres of land near where Atlantic now is and moved his family on it in the spring of 1862. In 1881 he sold the farm and he with his wife became residents of Lewis. His wife died in March 1893, since which time he has lived with his children. Last fall he went to Penfield, Ohio, to spend the winter with his youngest son. In April he was attacked by acute bronchitis. He gradually wasted away till he died June 2d. He embraced the christian religion in his youth and he and his wife were consistent members of three pioneer Baptist churches, at LaGrange, Ohio, Lewis and Atlantic.
He lived without malice, at peace with his neighbors and all the world. He never had but one civil office. At one time he was township trustee of Turkey Grove township.
