A 13-year old son of Ben Wagnar, living near Anita, was moving hay and thrown by a lurch of the machine in front of the sickle and received injuries from which he must have died almost instantly. His neck was broken and his body badly mangled by the sickle knives. He laid several hours in the field before being discovered.
