William Wallace Doll, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Doll, was born Oct. 20, 1880, and died at the home of his parents in Grove township Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1899, age 18 years, 3 months and 8 days. He was born in Decatur county, Ia. where he lived until he reached the age of four years, when he moved here with his parents, where he has since lived. Bowel trouble was the cause of death. Solemn and appropriate services were held at the home and a very large number of neighbors and friends were in attendance, indicating the high esteem in which the young man was held in the community which now mourns his departure.

William Doll was an exemplary young man, respected and loved for his true, manly character. His was a brief life, yet full of good intentions, noble aspirations and deeds of kindness and love for those with whom he came in contact. His death falls heavily upon the family, and especially upon the aged father and mother, who in this darkest hour of sorrow and bereavement that has come over to them, feel their loss as only loving parents can. To father, mother and sisters and brothers, the community extends its heartfelt sympathy. (Atlantic Weekly Telegraph, Wed., Mar. 8, 1899)
