LAD DIES OF LOCKJAW

Benjamin Patmount, six and one-
half year old son of the Rev. and
Mrs. Louis R. Patmount of Omaha
and a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. G. H.
Bierbaum living two miles east of
Griswold, died Saturday morning of
lockjaw, at the Methodist hospital in
Omaha, to which he had been rushed
Thursday for treatment.

Tetanus developed from an injury
ten days ago, when the lad stubbed
his toe. The wound bled freely at
the time, was cauterized and seemed
to be healing satisfactorily. Later
the boy accompanied his parents to
Griswold for a visit. While the fam-
ily was gathered at the table, the boy
complained that he could not eat be-
cause he could not open his mouth.
A physician, summoned hastily, pro-
nounced it a case of lockjaw, and the
victim was immediately removed to
Omaha for expert attention.

The body was brought to Gris-
would Sunday morninv, and funeral
services were held Monday afternoon
at 2 o'clock from the Church of Christ,
with interment in the Griswold ceme-
tery.
