Wednesday, January 5, 1994Funeral services for Claude Joseph "Chick" Brindley, 84, of Atlantic and formerly of the Walnut area, will be held at 1:30 P.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Roland Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard T. Hohl of Atlantic will officiate at services.
Interment will be in the Monroe Cemetery northeast of Walnut.
A visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Roland Funeral Home.
Mr. Brindley died Jan. 3 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.
The son of Thomas Joseph and Edna Bernice Fleming Brindley, he was born near Lewis Feb. 13, 1909, and lived in the Lewis, Avoca and Walnut areas. He enjoyed working with horses and worked with them in Colorado.
His marriage to Margaret Arp took place Sept. 17, 1934, and they farmed near Walnut. He retired to Atlantic in March 1973.
Surviving are his daughter, Retta of Atlantic; a sister, Grace Porter of Florida and her husband, Bill; three sisters-in-law, Edna L. Brindley of the Griswold Care Center, Anita Brindley of Glenwood and Ruth Babbit of Grand Meadows, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; five brothers, Marvin L., Thomas M., Clair C., Kenneth C. and Bernard K. Brindley, who died in infancy; five sisters, Anita Belle Schimele, Josephine L. McDermott, Effie B. Nielson, Thelma Vandruff and Roberta "Bessie" Wohlenhaus.
