Dessie B. Smith and Arthur McFarland Married Last Evening—Other Weddings.
Wednesday evening, February 12, 1908, at the home of F. C. Smith near Buck Creek the marriage of his daughter, Miss Dessie B. Smith, to Arthur McFarland was solemnized. About sixty of the near relatives were present to witness the ceremony.
Masters Guy Butler and Van Hunt saw that all found their way safely from the gate to the door where they were met by Misses Hazel and Blanch Carter, nieces of the bride, who ushered them to the cloak rooms.
At seven o’clock the bridal party marched down the stairs and took their places under a floral arch from which hung four wedding bells. The wedding march was played by Miss Gladys Herbert. Rev. Hohanshelt pronounced the words which made them man and wife.
The bride was dressed in white silk and carried white roses. The groom wore the conventional black. The house was prettily decorated, the color scheme of pink and white being carried out. The tables were decorated with the same colors and smilax and roses were also used. Misses Hazel and Blanch Carter, Vera Odem and Gladys Herbert served at the tables.
The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Butler of DeSoto; Ernest Butler of Greenfield and Miss Mary Anderson of Omaha.
A reception will be given this evening at the Smith home for the young people.
