MANNING - Melvin Roy Nissen, 52, who farmed northwest of Manning, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at his home Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church here, with the Rev. Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery, under direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning.
Pallbearers will be Orren Ramsey, Tom Wolfe, LeRoy Mundt, Harold Reinke, Merrill Calendar and Gerhardt Voge.
Mr. Nissen, son of Alfred and Jessie Stribe Nissen, was born near Manning Jan. 5, 1924. He graduated from Manning High School in 1942. On April 5, 1946, he married Edna Bruhn and they have farmed northwest of Manning. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church here.
Surviving with his wife are five children including Robert of Manning, Mrs. Marc (Gloria) Thorson of Akron, Mrs. Judy Andersen of Council Bluffs, Randall and Joan at home and three grandchildren.
He also is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jessie Nissen; a brother, Orlo Nissen; and a sister, Mrs. Eldis Weems, all of Manning.
