Gust Turnquist was born Feb 5, 1857 in Sweden. His last name was Johnson but he changed it because Johnson was too common (this story came from Aunt Marge). The switch in names made it harder to find past history and extended family for Gust.

He married Mary Marie Olsen Dec 18, 1888. Mary was born July 2, 1864 in Swanskog Vamland Sweden. They raised nine children, 4 daughters and 5 sons. Mary passed away March 18,1937 and Gust died on Feb 4, 1940.

Children, Alama Marie 1890-1975: Charles William 1891-1974: Helma Christine 1894-1967: Gust Jr 1896-1986: John 1899-1965: James 1900-1984: Tillie 1902-1921: Annie 1904-2000 and Walter 1907-1989
