Funeral services for Miss Stella M. Powell, 91, of Linn Grove, were held on Monday afternoon, Nov. 29, . 1976 at 2:pm from the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove with Rev. Alex Ayers officiating. Mrs. Paul Anderson was the organist.
Pallbearers were Bob Brosstad, Vernon Mills, Jack Cleveland, Stanley Patterson, Raymond Bertness and Leonard Anderson.
Burial was made in the Barnes Township Cemetery at Linn Grove with the Sliefert Funeral Home of Sioux Rapids in charge of the arrangements.
Stella Mary Powell was born in Linden, Wise, on Sept. 9, 188S, the daughter of Henry and Victoria (Batten) Powell. She came to Clay County, Iowa at an early age and lived on the Powell farm north of Linn Grove until 1920 when she moved to Linn Grove. She was a member of the the Riverside Presbyterian Church.
Stella had been in failing health for several years and had been a resident of St. Lukes Lutheran Home since 1969 and it was there that she passed away on Friday, Nov. 26, 1976, at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 17 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Elmore and Parker, and two sisters, Clara Powell and Hazel Powell Cate.
Stella is survived by her two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Elmore Powell of Spencer and Mrs. Parker Powell of Sioux Falls, S.D. Nieces, Mrs. Hugh Roberts Sr. of Sioux Rapids, Mrs. Quenten Witt, Pittsburgh, Pa, and Mrs. Rueben Wood of Spencer, Mrs. Lou Sharp, of Storm Lake, nephews, Ted Cate of Spencer and R. Parker Powell of Fresno, Cal. and a number of great nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
