I'm looking for something other then census reports that states Sarah Hamm and Austin Stevens had a child Frank born 15 Feb. 1867 in Walker. Frank is my Great-grandfather. Sarah Hamm (parents Jacob Hamm & Mary Blank) and Austin Stevens (parents Prince Stevens & Asenath Staples) were married in Buchanan Co. 30 Nov.1865. Sarah died 2 May 1871 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Quasqueton. After Sarah's death Austin married Mary Neindorf and move to Dixon Co. NE. Austin later left the area and was not heard from for 25 years. In 1925 he wrote a letter to Frank stating he was in OR. Can anyone look up a newpaper obit for Sarah that would have her son's name. Would there have been a birth recorded in the paper. Any other ideas of where to look.
I also have no idea what happened to Prince Stevens and his wife. Last census found was 1870 in Quasqueton.
