Hospital for the Insane

Andrine Hoffoss is listed as a patient in the Hospital for the Insane, Buchanan County, Iowa in the 1880 federal census. I can find no other listing for her. Does anyone know of records for the above institution? Did they ever let people out? Any information would be appreciated.
