Dear Reader, Family and Friends,
My name is Tony Bengston. I am 20 and I had lived in Littleton for 18 years prior to September of 2003. Now I live about five miles away. For the past five years I have been researching the Littleton and Chatham area. This history is important to me and I have decided to compile this history into a book to share with everyone. A fitting record is needed to document the existence of Littleton long after it is gone. Thus far I have gathered a generous amount of information on the history, people, and buildings. I have also been working on updating the cemetery records along with the help of Janet (Bantz) Meaney, Karen (Trumbauer) Finley, Nyle McMartin, and the Buchanan County Genealogical Society. The research is still far from completion and I am asking for your assistance in this endeavor.
What you can provide are descriptions of the people and buildings of Littleton and how you remember them from the past. What were their roles? Where was that building located? Anything at all that you know or remember that has changed over the course of time. Memorable stories or events that you can recall, whether they be happy, funny, sad, everyday occurrences, or interesting happenings that you would like to pass on. Even things that happened just yesterday that were out of the ordinary or of interest to intrigue the future generations. Information from letters, journals, abstracts, wills, deeds, other public documents, family histories, articles, obituaries, war information, photographs, or family heirlooms/mementos that I might copy and return would be very much appreciated. It would be very helpful if you could refer me to others who might have more information. Maybe you know someone who had lived in Littleton or a relative who visited regularly. Ask around to your friends, family, groups, and organizations. I also hope to contact you in the near future and ask some questions about the good times, the people and the businesses, the memories and the dreams, of Littleton past and present.
Thank you for your time and help,
With Much Appreciation,
Tony Bengston
