Paul Burton Bonefas, 48, of Quasqueton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at his home following a short illness.

Paul was born on October 3, 1977, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Jerry B. and Sheila G. (Olsen) Bonefas. He was raised in the Quasqueton area and attended East Buchanan Community Schools, graduating with the Class of 1996.

After high school, Paul moved to Independence, Iowa, where he worked at a DX station. He later returned to school to study information technology. Paul eventually moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he worked as an IT Specialist at Channel Fusion. He had a true passion for computers and technology and was especially interested in 3D animation.

Paul had an impressive knowledge of automobiles and rebuilt several vehicles over the years. He took great pride in his 1966 and 1972 Mustangs. In his free time, he enjoyed four-wheeling and camping. Known as the clown of the family, Paul loved to make others laugh and was always ready with a good story. In 2024, he moved back to Quasqueton to be closer to his mother. He raised a daughter, Maelynn, and loved spending time with her.

Paul is survived by his mother, Sheila Sells of Quasqueton, Iowa; his daughter, Maelynn Bonefas; his brother, Jay (Rachael) Bonefas of Marion, Iowa; his sisters, Shani (Shawn) Staley of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Cassie Bonefas of Des Moines, Iowa; his aunt and uncle, Sheryl and Norm Wordehoff; special cousins, Micki Wordehoff and Jacki Tentinger; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Dotti Pates.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Bonefas; his grandparents, Mahlon “Bud” and Callie Olsen; and a nephew, Jayce Payne.

The Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
