W.H.WEHRMACHER IN AUTO ACCIDENT

Dogs cause Car to Be Thrown into Ditch; Three Suffer Cuts and Bruises
______________________________

Waverly, (Special) - W. H. Wehrmacher of this city met with a serious accident on Sunday evening on Highway No.10 near the Denver corner. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wahlman of Sumner, had been over to spend the day with their daughter, Mrs. Wehrmacher and family and to celebrate the 88th birthday of Mr. Walhman, as was his custom each year.

About five o'clock Mr. and Mrs. Wehrmacher started to take their guests back to Sumner and when near the Denver corner, suddenly and without warning, two large dogs jumped up onto the highway from the ditch. Mr. Wehracher turned his car quickly thinking he might be able to dodge them, but one got out the way and he struck the other one with the result that it threw him into the ditch.

The car did not turn over but when Mr. Wehrmacher got out and went around to see if anyone was hurt, he found his wife, who was sitting in the rear seat, lying with her head hanging over the fender, the door of the car having come open and she had been thrown out and in some manner had struck the door handle of the car and suffered a very serious scalp wound which took several stitches to close. Mr. Wahlman suffered a severe cut across his face and nose and was otherwise bruised. Mrs. Wahlman suffered a slight injury to her forehead, but not serious. Mr. Wehrmacher did not receive any injury.

All of the injured were rushed to Mercy hospital by passing motorists and given medical attention and reports from the hospital are to the effect that they are getting along well and Mrs. Wahlman was able to leave the hospital Monday morning. It was a most unfortunate accident as Mr. Wehrmacher is a very careful driver and this is the first time he has ever had an accident, but he says the dogs jumped out in front of him so quickly he could not avoid hitting them.
