Evelyn "Evie" Mikesell, 83, of the Madrid Home in Madrid and formerly of Boone, died at the Madrid Home on October 17, 2013.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Boone. Burial will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens, Boone.

Evelyn was born in Shenandoah, on May 11, 1930. On November 27, 1949, Evelyn married James Mikesell Jr. in Boone. Evelyn worked at Iowa State University for 15 years as a storekeeper in the Physical Education Department.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Steve, and a sister Ann. She is survived by two sons Ron (Deb) Mikesell of Boone and Dennis (Debbie) Mikesell of Clear Lake; a daughter Kathy (Lee) Hook of West Des Moines; foster daughter Anna Hill of Ventura, CA; a sister Julie Mallow of Kirkland, WA; seven grandchildren: Amanda (Dustin) Staade, Justin Mikesell; Stacy (Tim) Thompson, Jenny (Wes) Mackrill, Paige Hook, Alex Hook, and Perry Hook; and three great grandchildren: Emmett Staade, and Lucas and Ally Thompson.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. where the family will be present from 5 until 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or the Madrid Home.
