LOUIS GOLINVAUX, 64 YEARS COUNTY RESIDENT, DIES

Death Occurs At Home Farm In Cedar Township; Funeral Saturday
Louis Golinvaux, 77, well known Black Hawk County resident, died at 5:03 p.m. Wednesday at the farm nine miles southeast of Waterloo which had been his home for 64 years.
Death resulted from a tetanus infection following an accidental injury to one of his hands, and from arteriosclerosis. He had been confined to his home for several months.
He was widely known to hunters and fisherman. His farm is on the west bank of the Cedar River, northeast of Washburn, and Goose Lake is on his premises. He welcomed sportsmen, and was himself a great lover of the out of doors.
He could relate many stories of experiences in frontier days.
He took great pride in his home and lawns, and in his ability as a successful stock farmer.

Born In New Orleans
Louis Golinvaux was born May 8, 1855, in New Orleans, La., the son of August and Mary Golinvaux. He was one of a family of seven sons and two daughters. His parents were born in France. They moved from New Orleans to Dubuque County, Iowa, and came to Cedar Township, Black Hawk County, in 1868.
Mr. Golinvaux was united in marriage to Elizabeth Gales, of Gilbertville, IA, Jan. 21, 1881, by Rev. John Nemmers, and to them seven children were born. A son, Roy Golinvaux, and a daughter, Mrs. Verna Myers, preceded him in death.

Widow, 5 Children Survive
He is survived by the widow, two sons, John, at home, and Dr. N. A. Golinvaux, 108 Mulberry Street, Waterloo; three daughters: Mrs. O. C. Miller, Colonial apartments; Mrs. W. B. Jennings, 122 Columbia Circle; and Mrs. Lee Kemp, 1210 South Street, all of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; three brothers: Gus Golinvaux, 516 Rhey Street, and Emil Golinvaux, Dubuque, and two sisters: Mrs. J. C. Girsch, Gilbertville; and Mrs. John Kieffer, Dubuque.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception at Gilbertville by Rev. Fr. W. J. Cremer, pastor, and burial will be made in the cemetery there. The body rests at the home.

Gilbertville-Waterloo Memorial Co. has poured a footing on the Louis Golinvaux lot for a tombstone.
