Peter Federspiel died at his home in Gilbertville Wednesday evening, April 27, from a complication of ailments. He had been confined to his bed for a long time only to get up for a short period of time.
Mr. Federspiel was born in Luxembourg, Germany on Aug. 24, 1869. At the age of 15, he came to Gilbertville with his parents, Peter and Margaret Federspiel. He married Mary Schares, of near here, on April 23, 1895. To this union were born three sons and two daughters.
The widow, two sons, Leonard, of Raymond, and Louis, of La Porte City, two daughters, Mrs. Anna Hemmer, of Raymond, and Mrs. Matilda Michels, of Stanley, 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Nicholas, of St. Louis, MO, and J. P. Federspiel, of Waterloo, a sister, Mrs. John Sondag, of Gilbertville survive.
A son, brother Matthias and sister, Mrs. John Schuler, preceded him in death.
The funeral was held from the Immaculate Conception Church at Gilbertville Saturday and burial in the family lot there. Rev. W. J. Cremer officiated. Pall bearers were nephews John Sondag, John Hermann, John Federspiel, Frank Schuler, Frank Schares, and William Schares.
