CEDAR FALLS - Dr. Vernon H. Herrmeyer, 90, Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center of natural causes.-

He was born Aug. 6, 1915, in Barron County, Minn., son of Henry G. and Annie Becker Herrmeyer. He married Taimi D. Maki on Nov. 11, 1936, in Virginia, Minn. She preceded him in death.

Dr. Herrmeyer received diplomas from Virginia Junior College, Virginia, Minn., and Texas Chiropractic College, San Antonio. He also attended Northwestern College in Minneapolis. He held several patents in many fields; was a pioneer in the recreational vehicle industry; and was a chiropractor in Waterloo and Sheboygan, Wis., for many years. He had been a member of the Waterloo Lions Club and was a charter member of two other Lions clubs, one in Denver, Iowa, and the East Black Hawk County Lions. He also had been a member of Toastmasters and state and national chiropractic associations. In 1989, at age 74, he rode a bicycle 477 miles on RAGBRAI. He had been a state champion in track at Virginia Junior College.

Survivors include two sons, David (Joyce) of Cedar Falls and Dennis of Indiana; four daughters, Judy (Lyle) Reisner and Peggy Raine Megivern, both of Waterloo, Vernita Holmquist of Indiana and Brenda (Loren) Wolfensperger of Colorado; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, George and Arthur; a grandson, a great-grandchild and a stepgreat-grandchild.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3006 Pleasant Drive, Cedar Falls, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Virginia, Minn. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home, with family present 5 to 7 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Falls Health Care Center, Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
