WATERLOO - Henry I. Fitz, 83, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Sumner, son of John and Anna Trosst Fitz. He married Lucille Sigler on May 17, 1943, and they later divorced, He married Lela Thompson on Sept. 13, 1971, in Las Vegas. She died June 5, 1995. He married Florana Ketelsen on Sept. 28, 1997, in Waterloo.

Mr. Fitz worked as a supervisor for John Deere, retiring in 1975. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was past commander for Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. He also was a volunteer for Cedar Valley Hospice.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janelle (Bill) Bentz and Jan Orner, both of Waterloo; a stepson, Russell (Mary) Kinkaid of Shell Rock; a stepdaughter, Pam (Lonnie) Hartema of New Hartford; a brother-in-law, Vince Herman of Fredricksburg; three grandchildren, Darrin (Erin) Bentz of Evansdale, Kip Orner of Hiawatha and Travis Orner of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five stepgrandchildren, Kimberly (Jim) Sheehan of Cedar Rapids, Kory (David) Fielder of St. Louis, Mo., Kristal (David) Graves of New Hartford, Robert (Angie) Kinkaid of Waterloo and Katie (Brandon) Willey of Waverly; four great-grandchildren, Garret Bentz, Ethan Bentz and Saydee Bentz, all of Evansdale, and Ava Orner of Scottsdale; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Frank; and four sisters, Betty Donald, Arlene Herman, Elizabeth Mosley and Ann Holm.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice.
