WATERLOO - Alma M. Bawek, 82, of Delaware, Iowa, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Regional Medical Center emergency room, Manchester, following an apparent heart attack.
She was born June 29, 1924, in Raymond, daughter of William J. Reuter and Barbara Frances Pint Reuter. She married Eugene Anthony Bawek on April 21, 1943, in Coeur D' alene, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She worked many sales businesses throughout the years including Amway, Fuller Brush and Stanley Products. She also operated an ice cream business during the Cattle Congress in Waterloo for 35 years and at the Iowa State Fair for 16 years.
Survived by four sons, Thomas (Kathy) of Bloomington, Minn., Steven (Kathy) of Maricopa, Ariz., Gerald (Janel) of Independence and Kelly (Christina) of Delaware, Iowa; six daughters: Barbara (Ronald) Boesen of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Judy McIlreth of Washburn, Lori (Michael) Donnelly of Sloan, Jane (Scott) Wald of Ankeny, Mary (Brian) Lyons of Vinton and Rita (Tom) Hadjiyane of Cayucos, Calif.; 31 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Father Lloyd E. Reuter of Gilbertville; and two sisters, Marie (Delbert) Wilson of Rowley and Marcella Murphy of Springfield, Mo.
Preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; three brothers, Irvin Reuter, Bernard Reuter and William Reuter Jr.; and a sister, Viola Reuter.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, with burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Raymond. Public visitation after 2 p.m. Monday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
