CEDAR FALLS — Elizabeth F. “Betty” Wertz, 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Dalton, Ohio, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

She was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Appomattox, Va., daughter of Wiley and Verdy Dunning Mann. She married Ira B. Wertz, Jr. on Nov. 30, 1946, in Brewster, Ohio. He died Oct. 10, 1988.

Mrs. Wertz graduated from Kent State University and taught elementary education at Dalton Elementary School

Survived by a son, James (Helene) of Dike; four grandchildren: Jennifer, Layla, Matthew and Stacey; and seven great-grandchildren: Donovan, Benjamin, Hogan, Emma, Isabelle, Landon and Grady.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Jayne Lee White; and five brothers, Wiley, James, Jesse, Charles and Erving Mann.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Dalton United Methodist Church, with burial in Dalton Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
