Traffic Mgr. Ray O'Connor, 63

Ray O'Connor, 63, of 338 Cataract Ave., a former city councilman and traffic manager of Chamberlain Corp., died at St. Francis Hospital Wednesday evening of cancer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, officiating.

Parish rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Oppold Funeral Home where friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. O'Connor was born July 22, 1909 in Waterloo, the son of Andrew and Mattie Monigold O'Connor. He was married to Dorothy Porter on Oct. 19, 1933, in Omaha, Neb. She preceded him in death in 1967.

He was currently traffic manager of Chamberlain Corp., where he had been employed for 44 years.

Mr. O'Connor was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, and was past president of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Traffic Association. He was formerly a city councilman at large from the East side.

Mr. O'Connor was past president of the Chamberlain Employees Credit Union and past president of the Black Hawk County Credit Union.

Surviving are five sons, Gary of 820 Locke Ave., Ronald of Olympia, Wash. and Michael of Iowa City; one daughter, Marilynn at home; his mother; of Walnut Creek Court Apartments; two brothers; Maynard of Sun City, Ariz., and Robert of LaPorte City, two sisters, Mrs. William Hosper of 2632 Orchard St., and Mrs. Glen Linde of 2765 Edgemont Ave.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife and one grandson.

The family requests the memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
