Mass of the Christian Burial for Mildred Mae Pardee, 97, was celebrated May 4,2005 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, with Father Wayne Gubbels and Father Charles Pardee officiating. Interment was in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Audubon. Casket bearers were: Ivan Lant, Martin Coe, Rob Squires, Tim Holt, Teresa Pardee, Virginia Tiernan, Penny Holt and Paula Reed.

Mildred Mae Pardee, the daughter of Samuel and Lula McNary, was born March 16, 1908, on her parents’ farm in Henderson County, near Stronghurst, IL, and died April 28, 2005, at the Friendship Home in Audubon.

Mildred was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Faith at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon. She attended rural schools in Henderson County and graduated from the Media High School in Media, IL, with the Class of 1926. She attended Teacher’s College in Macomb, IL, and then taught rural schools for several years.

On Oct. 13, 1928, she was united in marriage to Giles Pardee in Lancaster, MO. They lived in Illinois for a short time, and then moved to Audubon .They operated farms in Melville Township and Greeley Township, until they retired and moved into Audubon in 1977. Giles died in 1986. Mildred sold their home in 1990 and moved to the Friendship Village in Audubon. She later moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon in March of 1999.

Mildred was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her daughter, Marilyn Pardee; her parents; her brothers and sisters: Violet Sullivan, Lameda Pardee, Samuel Lant, Edwin Lant, Louis Lant, Lawrence Lant, James Lant and Calvin Lant.

Mildred is survived by her children: Doris and Gifford Holt of Durango, CO; Joyce and Peter Knutsen of Bainbridge Island, WA; and Terry Pardee of LaCrescenta, CA; eight grandchildren: Tim and Sherry Holt of Durango; Virginia and Jeff Tiernan of Walnut Creek, CA; Penny and Rob Squires of Bailey, CO; Joe and Debbie Knutsen of Everett, WA; Paula Reed and Scott Slagle of Kingston, WA; Lisa Pardee of Phoenix, AZ; Marty Pardee and Theresa Pardee, both of Lancaster, CA; 18 great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Bernard Pardee of Hamlin; sister-in-law, Laura Pardee of Audubon; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
