G. W. FORDYCE KILLED IN ACCIDENT

Neck Broken When Auto Turns Over in Road Near Hamlin

G. W. Fordyce of Anita was killed in an auto accident north of Exira Monday evening as he was returning home from Gray, where he had been with his son, Raymond, who had purchased a restaurant in that town.

Mr. Fordyce was alone and no one will ever know exactly how the accident happened as he died almost immediately after being found. F. D. Lane of Audubon found the injured man under his broken car and went with all haste to the nearest house for assistance as it was impossible to lift the car alone. The man was breathing but unconscious when found but when help reached him he was dead. The body was brought to the Corl & Terhune undertaking parlors in Exira, where it was kept until Tuesday morning when an undertaker from Anita took it to his hometown.

It was found that the radius rod of the car was broken turning it completely over. Mr. Fordyce was caught under one of the doors of the back seat, and suffered a broken neck.

Deceased had been a jeweler of Anita twenty five years until three years ago when he sold his business. He was about fifty-five years old and is survived by two sons and two daughters.
