James L Blake

James L Blake, the son of James and Rebecca KinKennon Blake, was born June 10,1901 on his parents farm in eastern Audubon County, and died at the friendship Home in Audubon on Dec 26,1982 at the age of 81 years.
He moved into Audubon with his parents. In 1935 Clara, Mrs Georgw Davis came to live with him and cared for him until they moved to the Freindship in January of 1969.
Jimmy was best known by his many friends for his activities in the Audubon Community. Every year he brought Santa Claus to Audubon at Christmas. He was a honorary member of the Audubon Volunteer Fire Department and headed many fire truck, he presided over the children at the Rose Theatre and helped in other ways there, he delivered funeral announcement cards to the business houses when there was a death in Audubon, and after his retirement into the Friendship Home, he assised many residents in getting to the dining room. Many residents of Audubon remeber being given rides in his wheel barrow when they werte children.
Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant twin brother; and two sisters: Pheobe Burkhardt and Minnie Nelson.
Survivors include his brother, Thomas Blake of Canada; a number of nieces,nephews,and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Andrew J. Hofer on Dec 28,1982 at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Interment was in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers: Milo Clemmensen, Ralph Jones, Emmert Kallesen Jr., Clifton Petersen, John RenfIle, and Pete Testroet.
