Peter Delahoyde
Dies at Age of 90

Came to Audubon County at the Close
of the Civil War; Lived in Audu-
bon Since 1891

Peter Delahoyde, a resident of the
county since 1865, passed away at his
home here last Monday at the age of
ninety years. He had been in failing
health for several weeks and the end
was known to be near for more than
a week before his death. He was
one of the oldest settlers in the coun-
ty having lived here for almost sixty
years.

Mr. Delahoyde was born in Kilkenny
Ireland on January 15, 1834. At the
age of 14 years he came with his par-
ents to the United States and lived
at Boston and later at New York,
where he engaged in business with
his father. In 1854 he came west and
settled in Poweshiek county, first near
Montezuma and later near Grinnell.
At the close of the civil war he came
to Exira and located near Exira.

December 25, 1878, he was married
to Miss Matilda Brown at Exira. To
them two sons were born, both of
