Local and Personal

Orin Masching had a narrow escape
from drowning Monday afternoon
when, with his team and wagon, he
broke through the ice on Lake Lena.
The driver and vehicle were submerg-
ed in the water but prompt assistance
was rendered by others who were em-
ployed at the lake. Orin was assisting
in the ice harvest for the Exira
Creamery Co. and drove his team onto
the ice not thinking there was dan-
ger of breaking through.

Note: Parents of Orwin Wayne Masching (1897-1977) were Clarence Masching and Edna Viola Kreamer. Orwin was married to Lucinda M. "Lulu" Hoskin.
