Lumber Company Manager Learned Trade From Dad
Martinus Nelsen, 55, manager of the Green Bay Lumber company at Kimballton, follows a long line of carpenters. His father and grandfather were both carpenters and Martinus learned the trade from his dad. Born in Shelby county near Elk Horn on February 20, 1896, Nelsen grew up under the influence of his master-craftsman father. He took his knowledge and skill to Kimballton in the fall of 1923. The Green Bay company, recognizing the knowledge of woods that Martinus possessed, hired the young man a few months later. His advancement was steady and Nelsen was made general manager on October 1, 1938. He has held that position since. Nelsen is married and has two daughters, both married and living near Kimballton.
