A Joy and A Pain

While Harold Scott and Floyd
Owen and their ladies were on
their way to the Wallace Stanley
home Wednesday night, December
22, in Harold's Buick roadster a
clutch went bum and left them
standing helpless in the road. Har-
old went to a nearby farm house
and sent in a C. Q. D. call without
results. The bitter cold wind be-
gan to gloat over its prey, but the
bright young bunch frustrated its
sinister intent by desertin the car
and walking the remaining three
miles. After participating in the
party which was in progress at the
Stanley home they borrowed a car
in which to return to Audubon.
But, lo and behold! in the vicinity
of the stranded Buick they ran out
of gasoline and again came to a
standstill. Again the icy Norther
began to blow and gloat over its
helpless victims. Once again a
bright idea came to their rescue.
The boys got out and rustled a gas
can and tapped the dead buick, the
gas from which took them safely
home. They had a joyous time at
the party and thus we see that on
the same page in memory's book
are often recorded a joy and a
pain.
