--------
Salesman Fined For
Carrying Away Hen

------
James Patrick Weeks of Omaha
was fined $10 and costs in the
court of Justice Arthur Horning
at Audubon Monday after plead-
ing guilty to a charge of securing
money under false pretenses.

The charge was brought by Mrs.
John Wieman of near Audubon
who alleged that Weekes called
at her home and tried to sell her
a bottle of rug cleaner for a dol-
lar. She refused to buy, but he
left the bottle of cleaner and de-
parted taking with him a hen
from the farm yard.

Weekes was arrested in Guthrie
Center and brought to Audubon
to face the charge. In addition to
the fine and costs, he was also
ordered to pay Mrs. Wieman a
dollar for the hen.
