Five-Year-Old Girl Badly Injured
When Brother Tries to Take Gun,

Independence, Oct. 11. Irene McCally, the five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee McCally, of this city, was accidentally shot by her 7 year old brother, Friday and badly injured.

Mrs. McCally, the mother, had gone down town for a short time before to do some shopping and left the little ones at home. During her absence the boy said, the little girl had taken a 32 caliber revolver from the bureau drawer and while he was trying to get it away from her it was accidentally discharged, the bullet striking her in the right hip. It glanced on the hip bone and went around the back just under the skin without touching the spine and lodged on the left hip, where it was taken out by the physicians, who was immediately called. She is expected to recover.
