The news reached this city last Monday morning that Mrs. Dr. Hedges [sic], of Waukon, died at her home very suddenly on Sunday, after a brief illness.
She was a lady highly respected and her loss will be severely felt in the community where she has so long resided.

Waukon, Aug. 29, 1879 - Mrs. Dr. I.H. Hedge, after a painful illness, died last Saturday evening. The funeral, on Monday, was very largely attended. Few ladies possess that degree of intelligence which characterized Mrs. Hedge.
She has been a resident of Waukon for upwards of twenty years. The community feel deeply the loss of this esteemed lady.

In the same paper & date is another death notice "DIED - At Waukon, on the 16th inst., of Brain and Spinal Disorder, Mrs. I.H. Hedge, wife of Dr. Hedge."

Notes:
-Burial is in Oakland Main cemetery. The 1882 biography of her husband, Dr. Isaiah H. HEDGE, gives her maiden name as AYRE.
