While engaged in stacking grain, on the 24th ult., Hans Felda [sic], an old resident of the county, received injuries resulting in his death, six days later.
His team became frightened from some unknown cause, the partially loaded wagon was upset, and he was thrown underneath, whereby the body was crushed and internal injuries received.
The venerable father of Mr. Felda came to this county and settled in 1853.
A friend, writing us on the subject, from Paint Creek Twp., says: The community receive the news of Mr. Felda's death with true sympathy for the aged parents and bereaved family. He was esteemed for strict honesty, integrity, good judgment in counsel, and Christian charity. He was full of energy and industry, and through steady habits had become comfortably situated. No one can fill his place in the community, his exemplary life being such that he apparently is without a peer.
His age was 41 years; a wife and three children are left to mourn the loss of one whose deportment was always such as becomes a follower of the gospel.
The funeral took place on the 2d inst., from the West Norwegian Lutheran Church, of which he was an honored member and representative man. The services were conducted by Rev. Hjort, and the fact of the presence in such a busy season of a very large number of residents of the neighborhood attested the grief of his friends.
He was a member of the Township board and president of the school district.
