WATERVILLE, Dec. 31st, '90.
Mrs. J. Shumaker, who has been in poor health for some time past, died Christmas day at 3 o'clock, p. m. surrounded by her children and near relatives. The deceased was born in Indiana in 1848. She came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Marten, in 1857. In 1866 she was married to Mr. Jacob Shumaker who with six children, three boys and three girls survive her. She was a woman of intelligence, just and kind in all the relation of life, who will be missed by all, but most by her children to whom she was a good loving mother, but in their grief they have a grand hope that they shall meet her again in the better land where there is joy forever. The funeral took place last Saturday from the family residence and was conducted by Rev. C. W. C. Erickson, of Russville, a large number of friends and relatives attended and followed the deceased to her last resting place in the cemetery near town. The family have the sympathy of all.
