LEA, MELBYE, URNESS, OLSON, ALDRICH, LADD, SCHROEDER

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 23, at 10 a.m. at the Old East Paint Creek Church for Albert Paul Lea, 64, who died in Wisconsin September 21. He was the retired principal of the Glenwood City, Wis. high school.

He was born on March 6, 1914, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., the seventh child of the Rev. and Mrs. A.P. Lea, a former pastor of the Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church. He attended Gale Academy, was a graduate of Augsburg College in Minneapolis, and he received his M.A. degree in school administration from the University of Colorado.

In 1940 he married Claudia Urness of Lamberton, Minn., also a graduate of Augsburg, at the Old East Paint Creek Church.

He served with the armed forces during World War II in the European Theatre, and then continued with his teaching and administrative duties in Lakeville, Wabasha and Glencoe, Minn. and Glenwood City, Wis.

He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. H.B. (Margaret) Olson; Antoinette Lea; Mrs. Alvin (Adelaide) Aldrich and Mrs. Charles (Christina) Ladd; one brother, Ambrose; and many nieces and nephews.

His wife died in 1975. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Abraham, and two sisters, Harriet Schroeder and Florence Lea.

The Rev. Paul Tobiason officiated and interment with full military honors was in the cemetery in Lamberton, Minn. Pallbearers were Anthony Lea, Christopher Ladd, Donald Aldrich, Eric Schroeder, and Gilbert and Joseph Lea, all neighbors of the deceased. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Note: He has a gravestone w/his wife in the Lamberton, Redwood co., MN cemetery. His parents, Anton Peter & Emelie (Melbye) Lea, and 2 sisters, Florence & Antoinette Lea are buried in OEPC.
