The JOURNAL at Waukon records the accidental death by poisoning of a little three years old boy named Plank whose parents reside near town. A solution of cobalt for the killing of flies had been carelessly placed upon the table and the little fellow perceiving it tasted and died.
~Weekly North Iowa Times, Wednesday, August 14, 1861; pg 2
Notes: The contributor can not be 100% certain that the above death notice is for Finis Plank so confirmation is needed. Per 'Woodmansee' his burial is in Oakland cemetery. The FindaGrave memorial photo = gravestone is very eroded & the child's name not legible in the photo, the DOD is legible = 7/10/1861.
