William Neumann son of William Neumann and his wife Marie (nee Brockman) was born in Arcadia, Carroll County, Iowa on August 31, 1881.

The same year on October 18, he was received into the membership of the Lutheran church at Arcadia and was baptized by the Rev. F. Schug.

When he had reached the proper age his parents sent him to the rural school, where he received his education. At a later age and after having been duly instructed in the Christian doctrine and God’s Word, William laid down a confession of his faith and was confirmed in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Fontanelle, Iowa at the hands of the Rev. H. Freytag. Mr. Neumann remained a member of the Lutheran household of faith all his life.

Except for the past two years, Mr. Neumann had lived his entire life on the farm and busily pursued that occupation throughout most of his life.

On March 9, 1904, William John Neumann and Katherine Rohner were united in Holy wedlock by the Rev. Ernest Lehmann. To this union were born three daughters, Clara, Alma, and Marie Caroline. The latter lived but seven weeks, while the other two daughters remain to mourn their father’s passing.

There remain to mourn his loss, his devoted wife, Katherine Louise (Rohner) Neumann, his two daughters, Mrs. Clara Wilhemina Wiggins (Harley Herbert Wiggins) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mrs. Alma Emma Houchin (John Ralph Houchin) of Red Oak, Iowa, also eight grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Frederick Goetz of Greenfield and two brothers, Fred and Henry Neumann of Fontanelle, besides many other relatives, friends, and acquaintances.

The deceased attained the age of 72 years, 9 months and 15 days. Date of death: June 18, 1954.
