JOHN YOUNG, son of Christian T., was born in Onondaga County, N. Y., Jan. 30, 1837. He was reared on a farm, receiving his education mostly in the common schools of Indiana, and has followed agricultural pursuits all his life. He came to this county in 1854, locating in Canton Township, and entered about a section of land, it now being section 7. He lived on that place until 1885, when he removed to section 11, Eden Township, where he is at present living, and meeting with success in his calling, having a fine farm of 200 acres, and 470 acres on section 12, Eden Township; he also has 640 acres in Canton Township.

He was married, Aug. 9, 1858, to Christiana Webb, daughter of William and Hannah Webb, natives of Richland County, Ohio, both of whom are deceased. To Mr. and Mrs. John Young have been born four children: Mary, born Dec. 21, 1859, married A. F. Dake, and they are now living in Eden Township; John Dempster, born Dec. 8, 1868, is living at home; Anna, born Jan. 20, 1863, died Aug. 17, 1864; and Minnie B., born Nov. 14, 1870, is living at home.

Politically, John Young is a Republican. In addition to the cultivation of his land and the raising of the cereals, he is interested to no small extent in the raising of stock, keeping usually from 150 to 200 head.
