This street scene in Kimballton is dated 1908. There was no documentation with the photo itself of what event was taking place, but it was been identified as the celebration on January 1, 1908 when the railroad entered Kimballton. The Atlantic Northern Railroad was built from Atlantic to Elk Horn and Kimballton in 1907, and the railroad was under contract to reach Kimballton by January 1, 1908. The city of Kimballton made an emergency extension to the city limits a few days before the deadline, enabling the railroad to meet its commitment.
